Thousands of Hyatt workers have joined a week of long strike action that began today by workers at the Lowell, Massachusetts hotel chain, one of the world's largest. This week's strike affects six hotel properties across North America, including the Lowell hotel and four other hotels in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston.

The hotel is located in a shopping centre that includes a hotel, restaurant, office building, retail shops and cinema.
